So, I kind of forgot to make a post for week 3, because I was really busy working on homework...it kinda consumes all my time. ESPECIALLY design. But, I love it! :)
Week 3-4 we were working on our shoe project in Design 1. I actually really liked this project, especially the model building! I wasn't a huge fan of the drawing, because I kinda procrastinated on drawing it...I thought it wouldn't take too long....OH I WAS WRONG! It probably spent about 8-10 hours drawing for this project. Model building probably took about 15 hours. All these hours were split up...I can not sit still for that long.
Anyways, the point of this project was to understand contours by making a topological transformation of a shoe into different planes. With this being said, I made 4 shoes: one horizontally cut, one vertically cut, one egg-create (vertical and horizontal), and one out of any material I thought fit the shoe. Needless to say, I spent a couple of nights up until 1am or 2am. Additionally we had to make rough and final drawings.

Other Classes:
In drawing, we did TWO leaf drawings. These are fun, but TAKE FOREVER! Forever= about 6 hours! We had to make a compositions with leaves, sticks, etc. We had to make it fit on a 16"x16" sheet of drawing paper and do it with color pencil. I literally came to college, with basically no art experience. (I haven't taken art since 6th grade.) So, trying to make these leaves look accurate was really hard, especially since its hard to blend color pencil because it has a waxy consistency.

In Physics...I love physics. I literally understand everything SO MUCH BETTER! Today we just took our first test, and I am feeling pretty confident. I practiced well for the quizzes and test, so hopefully it went well!
In Writing, we had our first paper due...not sure what I got on it, but I had fun writing it. We analyzed an object, to see if we could find a hidden meaning/purpose behind it. I wrote about this Korean pencil case that Bo Yeon gave to me for my birthday years ago. This paper was actually for practice because we will doing the same thing, for a bigger paper. My new paper is actually on a Asian fan. (Notice the Asian trend? :) )
In Sustainability and Pathways, everything is the same, Sustainability is actually really interesting, thinking about processes, cycles, and systems and how things interact within them.
Any ways, I do have a decent amount of homework this weekend, especially for Design. I have to write a rough draft of my paper. And I have a drawing for drawing. So, I'll be busy this weekend... between sleeping and homework.
I might post and edit this later today with more photos. We will see.
I miss everyone from Howard! Can't wait for Thanksgiving!
